Cadet and Junior Membership
The key to growth of golf is player development at junior level. Redland Bay Golf Club offers Cadet and Junior Membership to train the future generation in golf.
Playing golf can contribute to the personal development of young people, because participants can have fun, be creative, express imagination and improve their self-esteem. Redland Bay Golf Club inc. provides a welcoming, friendly environment for young golfers.

FREE Weekly Professional Training Sessions for Junior and Cadet Members.
Training will be provided by our PGA Professionals - Mr Len Beck and PGA Professional - Mr Shannon Beck
Age Groups - Under 10 1pm-2pm, 10-13yo 2pm-3.30pm, 14-17yo 3.30pm-5pm EVERY SATURDAY

Cadet and Junior Golfers will learn:
- Rules and Etiquette (including respect of other club juniors, club members and visitors).
- Standards of appropriate behaviour on and off the course.
- How to enter weekly competitions.
- How to obtain a handicap and improve on it.
- How to complete a scorecard.
- Golf Dress Code.
- Spirit of competition and fair play
- To improve their golf through participation in coaching and regular play in competitions.
- To play without endangering other persons or property.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A CADET AND JUNIOR?
Children over the age of 8 are invited to join as a Cadet. The Cadet is monitored by the Junior Director. Once the Cadet has successfully completed the program they will be invited to become a Junior Member.
Children that already hold a current AGU or WGA handicap will play as Junior Members and do not have to graduate through the cadet ranks.
HOW MUCH DOES MEMBERSHIP COST?

WHEN CAN JUNIORS & CADETS PLAY?
Cadets and Juniors have the same social playing rights as senior members (ie. They may play socially at any time that they can get a booking with the pro shop).
WHEN ARE COMPETITION GAMES FOR JUNIORS?
Please refer to the Fixture Handbook for lists of weekly competitions. Competitions can be booked two weeks in advance (except Saturday Morning Golf - Juniors may book the day before after 4pm). Juniors may play in all open competitions. No more than two juniors may play in a group in any competition (groups consist of 4 players).
WHAT EQUIPMENT WILL MY CHILD NEED?
Your child will need a set of clubs, balls, tees, water bottle, a marker. Our friendly professionals can assist you in advising the equipment that can be purchased or hired through our pro shop.
HOW SHOULD MY CHILD DRESS FOR GOLF?
Please see full list of dress regulations in Fixture Book or New Members Pack. Don't forget a hat and sunscreen!
DOES MY CHILD REQUIRE PARENTAL PARTICIPATION?
Parental participation is not required but it is encouraged. Please speak to the Junior Director if you wish to contribute your time to your child's development.
WHAT HAPPENS ON SCHOOL HOLIDAYS IF WE ARE GOING AWAY?
Organised games for Cadets and Juniors on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning will be suspended during school holidays. Please contact the office to enquire about playing in other competitions. Social play and use of the practice facilities are encouraged during school holidays.
WHO TRAINS MY CHILD?
The Junior Director Mr Warwick Cook, PGA professional Mr Len Beck, PGA professional Mr Shannon Beck and other nominated senior members..
WILL MY CHILD NEED TO TRAVEL TO OTHER CLUBS FOR GOLF (EG AWAY GAMES)?
Your Junior Director will from time to time advise Cadets and Juniors of competitions at other Golf Clubs if your child is interested. (see notice board in clubhouse for junior competitions at other golf clubs) Annual Pennant teams are also chosen to represent each golf club. Participation is not essential.
